The energy journey

Solar first. Home next. Store the suitable surplus.

Actual energy flow depends on the final equipment, settings, available solar generation and household demand.

Start with the purpose

What do you want your battery to do?

The answer should guide capacity, equipment and the way your system is configured.

02

Increase self-consumption

Use more of the electricity generated at your property instead of exporting every available surplus unit.

03

Plan selected backup

Define which loads matter during an outage, then confirm the required equipment and operating limits.

A considered recommendation

Six things to review before choosing storage.

A battery decision becomes clearer when it is connected to real household data and a defined purpose.

Solar + stored energy

Two packages with Cell-X storage.

Array size is only a starting point. The battery fit still depends on your generation, usage and storage objective.

Prices are in NZD incl. GST and include the equipment listed — panels, hybrid inverter, mounting and cabling, plus the Cell-X W10.24a battery where shown — and standard installation in Canterbury by Cell-X Solar’s registered electricians. Site-specific extras (for example switchboard upgrades, difficult roof access or long cable runs) and any lines-company or meter costs are confirmed in your quote. Outside Canterbury, ask us for a quote. Planning guides only — not final recommendations or quotes. Final size depends on your bill, daytime use, roof space and orientation, shading, switchboard, future loads and local network requirements.

Battery storage answers

Frequently asked questions

Will a battery power my whole home during an outage?

That should never be assumed. Backup capability depends on the inverter, system design, battery state, available power and the circuits selected for support. The proposal should name the supported loads and explain the operating limits.

Ask about my property
Can I add a battery to an existing solar system?

It may be possible, but the existing inverter, switchboard, solar array and monitoring need to be reviewed. Compatibility and any additional equipment should be confirmed before a recommendation is made.

Ask about my property
How large should my solar battery be?

Capacity should be considered alongside your evening use, typical solar surplus, backup objective, inverter limits and budget. A larger nominal capacity is not automatically the best fit for every property.

Ask about my property
Who installs the battery?

In Canterbury, Cell-X Solar’s registered electricians install, connect and certify it, and package prices include standard installation. Outside Canterbury, ask us about options for your area.

Ask about my property
Does a battery guarantee lower power bills?

No. The result depends on how the system is used, solar generation, tariffs, export rates, equipment losses, control settings and cost. Any financial estimate should show its assumptions and remain an estimate rather than a guarantee.
